About Us

American Comfort Solutions was founded in 1963 in downtown Fuquay Varina. Our offices are still located just 2 blocks from our original location. We take pride not only in our work, but our community as well. We are members of the local civic Chamber of Commerce and make many donations to local civic organizations. We strive not only to be in our community, but to be part of it as well.

H. C. "Hank" Allred, Jr.
Retired Former Owner/President

Hank was born and raised in Alamance Co. He has two sons. He served his country in the US Air Force before attending college. He was with Duke Power in Burlington for 15 years and Allison/Erwin Co. in Charlotte for 20 years. While Territory Manager with Allison/Erwin, Hank became friends with Earl Holleman, owner and founder of M & H Heating and A/C. He purchased 50% of M & H Htg. & A/C when Mr. Holleman retired in in Jan. 1988. In July 1995, he purchased the other 50%. After almost 20 years at the helm of M & H, Hank decided to retire (sort of, that is). He sold the company to his step-son, Jason Guy, who had worked with him for 5 years, and he continues to make himself available both as an advisor and salesman. Hank also keeps busy as a Gideon and helping wherever possible with his wife's ministry.

Ellen Allred
Secretary/Treasurer & Office Manager

Ellen was born and raised in the Fuquay/Angier area. Her father, the late Edward Smith, worked for both the Fuquay Ford and Chevy dealerships as body shop foreman and head mechanic before opening his own shop, Smith's Garage, in Angier in the mid 1960s. She graduated from Angier High and pursued a career in accounting. When her husband Hank purchased M & H Heating & A/C in 1988, Ellen started Leisure Concepts Pool & Spa which she operated until selling it in Nov. 1997 and coming to work for M & H. Hank retired in July 2007 when he sold the company to Jason Guy, one of Ellen's three sons. She now works part time, as Guiding Light Ministries which she started in 2005, now takes up a lot of her time. You can learn more about this ministry by visiting here.
